When upgrading the SVE units, please be sure to distinguish between the original units and the newer units with an A in the part number. CHANGES 1. Improve box to box expansion If powering on a slave box last, it would not be auto-detected as a slave until you switched ports. Before the time it is auto-detected as a slave, a chain of PC-only to PC-only units may have erratic RS232 mouse communication. This has been fixed. 2. Fix Sun caps lock Sun caps lock was sometimes not working on chained multi-platform boxes with a Sun keyboard. This has been fixed. 3. Hitting STOP-A may leave Sun computer in upper case The STOP-A is used to put the Sun at a boot prompt. Sometimes when using chained boxes, this could leave certain Sun computers in upper case. This has been fixed. 4. Change Apple left keys to right keys The Apple right control, right option, and right alt key are now sent as their left side equivalents. Certain Apple applications don't react well to the codes sent from the right side of the keyboard. 5. Allow Apple swap of option and alt keys PC 102/105 key keyboards have the alt and option positions reversed from the Apple keyboard. If you are used to the Apple positions and you are using a PC keyboard, it is awkward. A new command allows you to swap the option and alt keys. The control B command toggles between swapping these keys on the PC keyboard when connected to an Apple or Sun computer. Press and release the left control key and then the B key to toggle the swapping. It can be saved in non-volatile memory with the use of the control K command. 6. Remove repeat from PC keyboard to Apple and Sun computers Certain Apple and Sun applications don't like repeating keys from a PC keyboard. Previously only the control, alt, and shift were non-repeating. Now all keys from the PC keyboard are non-repeating, which makes the repeating function for Apple and Sun computers work exactly correct. 7. Fix booting of certain mode 1 and mode 3 computers A problem was introduced in firmware revision 4.4 causing certain mode 1 and mode 3 computers not to boot properly. This has been fixed. 8. Add Sun STOP key from PC keyboard A Sun keyboard has 10 extra keys on the left hand side that a PC or Apple keyboard doesn't. These keys are mostly unused, except for one. The stop key with the A key is used to put a Sun computer to a boot prompt. You can now use control pause to emulate this key on a PC keyboard. Press and release the left control key, press and release the pause key, and then press and release the A key to cause a Sun computerto go to the boot prompt. This function is also available from an Apple keyboard and a Sun keyboard too.
